Pirates remain in prime playoff position

While the final score wasn't enough to get a win, the effort was again impressive for the Phoenix girls' soccer team.

The Pirates dropped a 2-0 decision in a physical contest at Henley on Thursday night. Despite the loss, PHS remains ranked 15th in the state and should host a Class 4A playoff game next weekend to kick off the post-season.

Phoenix (3-5-1 in the Skyline conference and 4-6-2 overall) found itself in a scoreless tie after one half of play. Henley pushed through a pair of goals during the second half. The teams tied 2-2 when they played earlier in the season.

The Pirates complete the regular season on Monday, hosting Mazama in a 4:30 pm at Colver Field.
