The Phoenix boys’ basketball team broke a six-game losing streak in style on Friday night, rolling past visiting Hidden Valley 71-45 in a Skyline Conference contest.
The Pirates won for the first time in 2019 by breaking open a close game after one quarter with a 43-16 scoring run over the second and third quarters.
Ethan Hutsell led all scorers with 22 points while Neco Ortega connected on five three-point baskets on his way to 17 point. Braeden Watts added 10 points for the Pirates, who improved to 10-9 overall and 1-4 in the Skyline.
PHS returns to action Tuesday, starting the second round of conference play at North Valley.
