The Phoenix baseball team deemed itself ready for the Skyline Conference and then showed it was exactly that on Wednesday afternoon.
Playing at Colver Field for just the second time this season, the Pirates rolled past visiting North Valley 13-1 in the conference opener for both teams. PHS led 8-0 after one inning and was never threatened.
The Pirates (7-5 overall) played seven games just before and during spring break, including a five-game stretch in Anaheim, CA. The Pirates finished 1-4 on the California trip, taking on schools considerably larger than them. They bounced back by splitting a pair of games (defeating Cascade Christian and falling to Eagle Point) leading up to the conference opener.
The Pirates and Knights play again on Saturday in Merlin.
