Game Date
Apr 6, 2019

The stars are shining bright early in the season for the Phoenix track and field teams as a long list of Pirates are off to impressive starts.

A pair of juniors are pacing the way for the Lady Pirates. Sienna Bauer is again impressing in the 100 hurdles, including a personal best of 15.36 seconds to finish third in the event at the Jim Robinson Invitational in Roseburg on April 6. A junior, Bauer is also making hay in the field events. She won the triple jump in Roseburg and has been solid in the long jump as well.

Cristal Tellez is making her mark in the throws. Tellez set a school record of 105-9 in the javelin in Roseburg and has also shown well in the shot put and discus.

Freshman Sophia Stubblefield is pacing the distance runners. She set a personal best of 5:44.12 to win the 1500 in a three-team meet at North Valley on April 3 before placing seventh in the 3000 in Roseburg.

Highlighting the effort for the Pirate boys include Joe Grace, Will Nathe, Atreyu Stinson and Noah Marshall. Grace and Nathe are impressing in the javelin where Grace set a personal best of 166-6 to finish third in Roseburg. Stinson won the high jump at North Valley and placed at Roseburg while Marshall is pacing the distance crew.

The Pirates return to action Saturday and will split their squads between the Crater Classic in Central Point and the Petersen Memorial in Winston.
