A solid season came to an end for the Phoenix softball team on Friday afternoon.

The Pirates advanced to the 4A play-in round for the first time in five years, matching up with Cascade HIgh School in Turner. PHS fought back throughout the game, only to drop a 6-5 decision to the Cougars.

Phoenix trailed 3-0 before scoring a pair of runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth inning. Kassandra Skaff's two-run triple provided the fifth-inning runs before Josie Bolstad delivered a three-run triple in the sixth.

Cascade pushed home what proved to be the winning run in the sixth inning.

Raelyssa Goff scattered seven hits in pitching for the Pirates, who finished the season 13-11.
