Boys steam toward playoffs with big win

The Phoenix boys' soccer team put the finishing touches on its fourth straight Skyline Conference title, downing Mazama 5-2 on Oct. 28 at Colver Field.

The Pirates got a hat trick from Victor Martinez and solid all-around play from Dan Martinez, Randy Rodriguez and Logan Jenkins, improving to 11-1-2 overall in the process. PHS posted a 9-0-1 mark in the Skyline and finished the season ranked fourth in the state.

PHS opens the OSAA 4A playoffs on Wednesday, hosting Seaside in a 2 pm kickoff at Colver Field.
