The Phoenix girls' basketball team's hopes of advancing to the post-season are alive and well.

Ranked 20th in the state, the Pirates are 3-4 in the Skyline Conference and 10-9 overall. The top 20 ranked teams advance to the Class 4A play-in round.

The Pirates sandwiched losses to conference powers Hidden Valley (57-33 on Feb. 7) and Henley (57-38 on Feb. 14) around a 70-46 win over North Valley on Feb. 11. Delani Parent scored 15 points, Josie Bolstad 14, Cristal Tellez 11 and Lola Lombreras grabbed 12 rebounds and dished ouf five assists in the convicing win as Phoenix led 48-9 at halftime.

Against Henley, the visiting Hornets broke away from a 34-23 halftime lead to put away the Pirates. Bolstad scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds while Parent had 10 points and seven rebounds.

At Hidden Valley, Phoenix trailed 17-3 ater a quarter against the second-ranked Mustangs. Parent had a team-high 11 points while freshman Morgan James played her best all-around game of the season with 10 points, five rebounds and three assists.

The Pirates visit Mazama on Tuesday and Klamath Union on Friday in Skyline play.
