The Phoenix wrestling team closed its regular season by splitting a pair of matches on the final night of the Skyline Conference dual season at Klamath Union High School on Feb. 12.
The Pirates downed KU 45-24 after falling to Hidden Valley 63-15. Micheal Walker and Emma Truex both won a pair of matches to set the pace for Phoenix.
While the rest of the team will compete at the OSAA regional event in Cottage Grove this weekend, Truex already has a spot at the State Tournament reserved after winning the girls' regional qualifier in Eugene earlier in the month. The senior will vie for a fourth straight state title after cruising through the regional with three pins totaling less than two minutes in the 126-pound weight class. Teammate Isabella Prinslow was fifth in the girls' regional.
