Braeden Watts picked a good night to get rolling from the perimeter.
The senior guard scored a game-high 25 points, including a basket just before time expired in a 50-48 Skyline Conference win at Mazama on Tuesday night. Phoenix held the ball for nearly two minutes before Watts hit the game-winner.
The victory keeps the Pirates in the thick of the post-season race as Phoenix improved to 5-3 int he Skyline and 12-9 overall. Watts hit seven three-point baskets in the win as the Pirates overcame a 24-21 halftime deficit.
Phoenix returns to Klamath Falls on Friday to tangle with Klamath Union in a key conference match-up.
