The Phoenix High School track and field team turned in some classic performances at the Crater Classic in Central Point on Saturday.
Junior Sienna Bauer set a personal best in the 100-meter hurdles, tying Adael Scatena of Thursday for the victory in 15.26 seconds. Bauer added a second-place finish in the triple jump, posting a mark of 34-9, just 1/2 inch out of first place.
Cristal Tellez had a solid day, finishing fifth in the discus (102-10) and 10th in the javelin (95-0).
For the boys, Joe Grace was fifth in the javelin (152-3) and Noah Marshall was eighth in a loaded 400 field, posting a time of 4:20.36.
Also Saturday, the Pirates sent a contingent to the Petersen Memorial Invitational in Winston. Lucy Newell (fifth in the 3000 in 14:23), Mariana Contreras (seventh in the 800 in 2:59.98) and Elwood Hosking (eighth in the 1500 in 5:08) highlighted the effort.
The Pirates return to action Wednesday at a Skyline Conference meet at Klamath Union High School.
