Sienna Buaer is a state champion!

Seeded second in the 100-meter hurdles, the Phoenix junior ran a personal best and school record of 14.96 seconds to claim the 4A title at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham on Saturday afternoon.

Bauer bested the field by nearly half of a second, posting a time that was the eighth-best of all-time at the 4A level. Less than 30 minutes later she competed in the triple jump, posting a fourth-place finish with a best of 34-feet-9.25.

Bauer's effort was just part of a solid weekend for the Pirates, who had four other place-winners in the two-day meet. Senior Joseph Grace finished third in the javelin on Friday, posting a mark of 161-2. Freshman Sophia Stubblefield placed fourth in the 3000 (10:40.18) on Friday and fifth in the 1500 (4:53.19) on Saturday, both personal bests.

Sophomore Noah Marshall earned the final spot in Friday's preliminaries of the 800 before finishing fifth (1:59.46) on Saturday. Also Friday, Lupita Alegria was 10th in the 800 preliminaries (2:24.96).

As a team, the girls placed 11th with 24 points. The boys were 21st with 10 points.
