Indoors or out, the Phoenix swimming teams are taking shape as the season progresses.

The Pirates put together their most impressive showing of the season on Saturday at the annual Henley Freeze. The outdoor meet in Klamath Falls included all of the Skyline Conference schools. When scored in dual-meet format, the Pirate girls defeated everyone but Klamath Union while girls topped all teams but Henley on the 40-degree afternoon.

Top finishers in the meet included:

Derrick Graham 3rd 200 free,

Bailey Olson 4th 200 free & 3rd 100 back,

Kazes Kuykendall 2nd 200 IM,

Heidi Taylor 2nd 100 fly,

Ford Fogleman 2nd 100 fly,

Blake Breitler 3rd 100 fly,

Tyler Clark 4th 100 fly,

Alec Shepherd 1st 100 free & 2nd 100 breast,

Ruby Moser 3rd 100 back,

Sophia Stubblefield 4th 100 back,

Pearl Ward 5th 100 breast.

A week earlier, the Pirates were indoors for the Souther Oregon High School Invitational at the Grants Pass YMCA. Top finishers included Alec Shepherd 2nd in the 50 free and 1st in the 100 fly, Heidi Taylor 15th 100 fly, Bailey Olson 11th 500 free , Sophia Stubblefield 15th 100 back. Our boys top performing relay was an 8th place for the 400 free relay (Alec, Bailey, Henry Hewson and Ford Foggleman). Our girls top relay was a 9th place in the 400 free (Heidi, Sophia, Kazes Kuykendall and Julia Treacy).

The boys team was ninth and the girls were 13th.

The Pirates return to action on Saturday when they will swim at the Grants Pass YMCA.
