Battling the top teams in the state, the Phoenix wrestling team earned a seventh-place finish at the Oregon Classic in Redmond over the weekend.
The Pirates finished 3-3 in the dual-meet event, which featured the majority of the best teams at the 4A level. Among the victories was a team win over Mazama, which is currently tied with PHS for the spot in Skyline Conference duals. The teams will square off on January 30 at North Valley.
Jack Hawkins, Ezra DeLuca, Ryan Brumble and Elijah Santana all posted 5-1 records for Phoenix on the weekend.
The Pirates return to action Wednesday, hosting Ashland and Springfield on Senior NIght before heading to the Cottage Grove Tournament on Friday.
