Announcements and Important Events
Phoenix High School facilities will open for sports workouts beginning Wednesday, September 9.
The school has been closed since mid-March due to the COVID pandemic and will begin 2020-2021 with distance learning for at least the first nine weeks of the school year. The Oregon Department of Education has deemed sports and activities vital to the mental health of students, paving the way to be able to offer extra-curricular workouts and meetings this fall. Various high school programs held workouts over the summer, with nearly 200 PHS students taking part.
Strict guidelines will be followed at all PHS facilities (including Colver Fields). Social distancing, pre-practice health screenings, proper hygiene and sanitizing of all equipment used for practices are among the points of emphasis that have been communicated to all coaches who will lead workouts this fall.
Prior to participating in a workout, student-athlete and their parent/guardian must complete the form that accompanies this release. COVID Release Form. All PHS coaches have received a copy of this form and are sharing via their channels of communication.
All students taking part in fall workouts must have an updated physical on file with Phoenix High School. Registration for athletics at Phoenix High School and Talent Middle School can be done via Family ID
Participation in fall workouts is voluntary for all student-athletes.
The Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) recently released a plan to offer three distinct sports seasons during the 2020-2021 school year. Winter sports will be offered from late December until mid-February, followed by fall sports and then spring sports. More information about those seasons can be found here.
