Phoenix High School will debut its newest sports team, Unified Pirate Basketball, on Thursday, February 1 when the Pirates host Crater in an exhibition contest. Game time is set for 6:15 pm at PHS.
Unified Sports is a program that brings together students with and without intellectual disabilities to train and compete on the same team against other school teams of similar ability. It was inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding.
Coached by Kelleen Seedborg and Jeff Rhoades, the Pirates have been practicing on a regular basis in preparation for the game against Crater. The teams will also play on February 20 (5 pm tipoff at Crater High School).

?The February 1 game at Phoenix will be part of a festive night for the Pirates and will also include Skyline Conference basketball matching PHS and Hidden Valley (5 and 7 pm), Future Pirate Cheer Night and a Coaches vs. Cancer Fundraiser. The varsity boys' game will be the Channel 12 Game of the Week.
