A long list of Phoenix High School student-athletes earned All-Skyline Conference honors for the fall sports season.
The conference champion Phoenix boys’ soccer team was honored as freshman Victor Martinez earned Player of the Year and Dennis Flenner was selected Coach of the Year. Martinez, Bryson Flenner, Randy Rodriguez and Moises Rivera (goalie) were all first-team selections. Joe Navas, Dan Martinez and Johnny Esquivel earned second-team honors while Ty Clayton and Cornelio Carrera-Flores were honorable mention choices.
Pirate girls’ soccer capped off a successful season with a first-team choice in Maggie Carrillo. Lupita Alegria earned second-team honors while honorable mention went to Sandra Villa, Alondra Ruvalcaba, Sandra Villa and Mackenzie Christianson.
PHS football had several first-team selections, including Jacky Hawkins at wide receiver and defensive back, Seth Firestone on the offensive line and Micheal Walker at linebacker. Ariel Lopez was a second-team choice on the offensive line as was Firestone on the defensive line, Jason Robidou at linebacker, Dalton Samis at defensive back and Nik Goff at punter. Honorable mention choices from Phoenix included Dominic McGee on the offensive line, Mateo Lopez at running back, Goff at receiver, Joey Wilson at linebacker and Cameron Cory at defensive back.
Phoenix volleyball had a second-team choice in Sophia Tringolo. Katelyn Hanson and Josie Bolstad were both honorable mention selections.
Pirate cross country landed four girls on the first and second team. Alegria and Sophia Stubblefield were both first-team honorees based off their efforts in the district meet while Scarlet Moit and Shelby Platt earned second-taem honors. For the boys, Noah Marshall and Yovanni Bazan-Chavez were both second team.
