Phoenix XC/TF teams (and many of their parents) volunteered under the guidance of Jackson County to help restore the Bear Creek Greenway.  They seeded the area, strategically placed hay and removed any non-natural debris, all in an effort to strengthen the areas protections against any erosion which winter rains may bring.  They also got to see large salmon and a formidable beaver-built dam which survived the fire.

All Covid precautions were in place.  The only time people got closer than six feet was when they were carrying bales of hay into the area (as they are too heavy for a single person to carry on uneven terrain).

"I'm so proud of these young people for taking ownership of and initiative in helping the community recover," Phoenix track and cross country coach John Cornet said.
