It's familiar territory for the Phoenix girls' basketball team.

Three years ago the Pirates went to higher-seeded Molalla and came home with a 4A play-in victory. This time they're heading to the high desert to take on Crook County on Saturday for a chance to qualify for the OSAA State Tournament.

Phoenix finished the regular season 11-11 and ranked 22nd in the state. Meanwhile, the host Cowboys are 13-9 and ranked 13th. Game time is set for 2 pm in Prineville. The game is available on the NFHS Network.

Note: PHS fell to Crook County 53-38 in the game. On the way home from Prineville, the school bus the team was traveling in was involved in an accident when a vehicle crossed into its lane. No serious injuries were reported among the students and staffon the bus.
