Fall 2023 sports information for the Pirates

The start of the fall sports season is quickly approaching for Phoenix High School.

All PHS programs have put in extensive work over the summer to prepare for the season, which officially gets underway on Monday, August 14. Here is information to help prepare student-athletes and their families for the fall season:

* All students must be registered on Family ID and have a current sports physical to participate. Phoenix High School does not charge a fee to participate in sports;

* Free sports physicals were provided on Saturday, August 12 courtesy of Providence Sports Medicine. La Clinica will do a free sports physical for students during the school year. Contact the school office for more information;

* All PHS fall sports programs will hold a Family Night Meeting on Thursday, August 17 beginning at 6 pm in the high school theater. A variety of information will be shared, from both the school's athletic department and from each fall sports program;

* A handbook outlining expectations for student-athletes, families, coaches and the school can be found here

* Football players must have a minimum of 10 fall practices before they can participate in a game. Soccer, volleyball, cross country and cheer student-athletes must  have at least five practices before they can participate in a contest;

* Contest schedules for Phoenix High School fall sports teams are online and can be found at phoenixpirates.org and osaa.org. Please check regularly as schedules may change;

* All contests played at PHS this fall will be live streamed on the NFHS Network. This includes JV and Varsity games and matches for football, volleyball and soccer. Single game, monthly and annual passes are available. Selected Phoenix High School events will also be broadcast free of charge by TableRockSports.net;

* Fall sports team and individual photos will be taken September 18 and 19. Sports programs will select the date that works best. Picture packets will be sent home to families with their student(s) at least one week prior to the photo date;

* PHS will celebrate Homecoming the week of October 23-27. The annual Community Parade will be held on Wednesday, October 25. Powder Puff Football and He-Man Volleyball will also be held on October 25. The Pirates will face North Valley in the annual homecoming football game on Friday, October 27 with the homecoming dance to follow;

* Community members may purchase a discounted season pass to all PHS regular-season fall and winter sports contests. Cost is $75 for a single person or $125 per family. Passes will be available at the Family Sports Night Meeting and also through the school office;
