Spring sports Skyline honors announced in baseball, softball

Phoenix student-athletes were among those honored in All-Skyline Conference awards for baseball and softball.

Pirate softball had a pair of first-team honorees as Jayden Vos (infielder) and Kendall Heywood (utility) were selected. Both are seniors, helping the Pirates to a third-place finish in the Skyline and an overall record of 11-12 on the season.

A trio that will return next season earned second-team honors, including sophomore infielders Kellie Woodside and Destiny Christlieb and junior outfielder Carsyn Gallegos. Sophomore Rylie Johnson was an honorable mention choice as an infielder.

In baseball, seniors Karver Wolowicz and Ryan Watts (both infielders) and outfielder Jackson Shilts were all named to the second team. Freshman Jackson Shilts (outfield) and sophomore Luke Jennings (utility) were also second-team selections. Sophomores Lucca Petrone (outfield) and Caden Cunningham (utility) were honorable mention.

PHS baseball finished fourth in the Skyline and posted an overall record of 8-18.
