Merri Walters

Basketball and volleyball were the sports of choice for this PHS graduate. Merri was voted the school's Female Athlete of the Year in 1984 after earning all-state honors in both sports. She played in the state all-star series for both and competed as a scholarship athlete at Oregon State where she set a season record for solo blocks as a sophomore. She finished her college career at Southern Oregon University and was the NAIA district and regional player of the year in volleyball in 1989, earning honorable mention all-American honors in the process. She served as the interim head coach at OIT in 1990 and was the school's graduate assistant athletic director in 1991 and 1992.
