Tom Murphy

PHS Teacher/Coach

Tom was a teacher and coach at Phoenix High from 1980 to 2005.

He was the head boys’ basketball coach from 1980-1993.

During that time, he was voted Skyline coach of the year, (1986 & 1992) and in 1992, Oregon 4A basketball coach of the year. Tom was also selected to coach the Oregon All-Star Team in 1986 and 1992.

After retiring as the basketball coach, Tom began a new coaching position as the head volleyball coach which lasted nine years during which he was selected as Skyline volleyball coach of the year in 2004.

Tom attributes his success to all the great athletes

that made it possible. It was a great run.
