The Phoenix girls' soccer team is settling in nicely to the 2022 season.
After a pair of one-goal losses to open play, the Pirates have responded with two consecutive shutouts, blanking Cascade Christian 4-0 and Cottage Grove 4-0. Both wins were at P-T Rising Field at Phoenix High School.
Several Pirates were part of the scoring surges in both wins. Morgan James, Anahi Villa and Katie Christensen scored in each contest while Carsyn Gallegos and Sofie Rodriguez also added goals. Jayden Vos posted a complete-game shutout against Cascade Christian while she and Addison McConnell shared time in the goal against Cottage Grove.
Ranked 12th in the state, Phoenix is 2-2 on the season and will host Crater on Saturday in a 1 pm kickoff.
