Decker ties school mark in HS jump

Brayden Decker continues to pick up where he left off last year.
After a stellar sophomore season saw him win the Skyline Conference high jump and place at the OSAA State Track and Field Championships, the Phoenix junior tied the long-standing school record with a best of 6-foot-5 to win the event in a multi-team meet at P-T Rising Field on Tuesday.
Decker's best tied a 1989 PHS mark set by Brice Sutliff.
Sophomore Elijah Palmer continued his strong run in the javelin, winning the event with a best of 142-9. Phoenix finished second as a team to HIdden Valley.
The Pirate boys also got a win from the 4x400 relay team of River Delco, Cole Clayton, Jackson Engstrom and Jayden Moody.
The PHS girls, who also finished second as a team, got wins from Etta Allen int he discus and Laurelin Jansen in the pole vault. Jansen tied a school record in the process, clearing 8-6.
