A five-run rally wasn’t for the Phoenix baseball team on Wednesday as the Pirates dropped 9-5 decision at Mazama.
PHS trailed 9-0 before surging in the sixth inning. The loss dropped the Pirates to 3-1 in the Skyline Conference and 10-4 overall. The series resumes Friday with a doubleheader beginning at 2 pm at Colver Field in Talent.
Dylan Knudson and Freedom Martinez both had two hits for Phoenix. Ethan Humble and Kade Beer pitched for the Pirates.
