Two more stellar pitching performances lifted the Phoenix baseball team to the post-season on Saturday.

Starters Liam Serean and Freedom Martinez allowed a combined seven hits as the Pirates closed the regular season with 5-1 and 15-3 win over Klamath Union.

Phoenix (15-11 overall, 9-6 in the Skyline Conference) finished fourth in the conference and 13th in the final state computer rankings. PHS will host Marist Catholic in a 4A play-in game on Thursday at Colver Field. First pitch at 4:30 pm.

Serean struck out 12 and scattered four hits in the opener before Martinez fanned eight in a three-hit effort in the nightcap at Kiger Stadium in Klamath Falls. The Pirates broke a 1-1 tie with four runs in the fourth inning. AJ Stanfield, Mason Stella and Martinez all had two hits. 

Phoenix opened a 14-1 lead after three innings of the second game. Kade Beer collected three hits to lead the way while Serean, Braeden Watts and Ian Wood all added two hits.
