For the second time in as many years, Junction City ended Phoenix's baseball season.
The Pirates trailed from the first inning and never too the lead in an 8-2 loss in a Sweet 16 game of the OSAA tournament on May 22 in Junction City.
Phoenix (16-11 overall) trailed 2-0 after an inning. Phoenix rallied within one run, 3-2, in the fifth inning but could not overtake the host Tigers, who would go on to lose to Hidden Valley in a state quarterfinal game on Friday.
Liam Serean and Freedom Martinez shared the pitching duties for Phoenix, which got doublees from Martinez and AJ Stanfield in the game.
