A day including 11 errors was too much to overcome for the Phoenix baseball team on Saturday in Klamath Falls in falling to host Henley 4-3 and 11-10 in a Skyline Conference doubleheader.
Tied 3-3 going into the bottom of the seventh in Game 1, Henley (8-4) leadoff hitter Tim Orr reached on an error, was bunted to second and eventually scored on an infield error.
Phoenix (7-5) starter Julius Bolstad allowed two hits in six innings, struck out nine, walked two and hit two batters. Brandon Zanni was 2-for-3 with an RBI single in the sixth, and Eli Page rapped a two-run single in the sixth.
In the ninth inning of Game 2, with the game tied 10-10, Pirate pitcher Jusitn Wilcox struck out the first two hitters, but Henley’s Gavin Graham reached second base on an infield throwing error and scored on a dropped fly ball in the outfield.
Wilcox pitched the final eight innings, allowing seven hits, striking out six and walking two. He gave up seven runs, but only three were earned.
Page was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Bolstad, who drove in two, and Wilcox were each 2-for-5.
