After a dramatic finish to win the opener, the Phoenix softball team had to settle for a split of a Skyline Conference doubleheader at Hidden Valley on Saturday.

PHS rallied with four runs in the seventh inning to down the host Mustangs 8-7 in the opener. Halie Bowman homered among her three hits and drove in three runs. Claire Mathewson was the winning pitcher as PHS notched its second conference win of the season.

Hidden Valley avenged the loss with a 5-4 win in the nightcap. Brooke Kentner homered twice for Phoenix, which got two hits from Katelyn Hanson.

Phoenix is 2-10 in conference play and 6-13 overall heading into a three-game series with Klamath Union to close the season.
