The Phoenix softball team got back on track Wednesday at the perfect time.
After opening the season with five straight wins, the Pirates dropped three straight games since spring break came to an end. Wednesday’s 14-4 win over North Valley to open Skyline Conference play provided just what the Pirates needed.
The Pirates led throughout in the win. McKenna Page continued to swing a hot bat for PHS, hitting a thee-run homer to put Phoenix ahead 6-1 after two innings. Phoenix had 15 hits in the game and 12 RBI. Abi George collected three hits and scored three runs in the win. Claire Mathewson was the winning pitcher for Phoenix (6-3 overall), which has a rematch on Saturday with the Knights.
