Stretch run for Phoenix track

The Phoenix track and field teams are getting down to business for the stretch run of the 2018 season.

With the Skyline district meet scheduled for next weekend in Ashland, the Pirates have been rounding into post-season form during recent meets, including the prestigious Grants Pass Rotary Meet on April 28.

Sienna Bauer continued her impressive season, winning the 100 meter hurdles at Grants Pass in a time of 15.92. The Pirate sophomore added a second-place finish in the triple jump (33-11 ¼).

Also at Grants Pass, Joe Grace finished fourth in the javelin (158-2) while Noah Marshall was second in the freshman/sophomore 1500 in a personal best of 4:24.46.

The Grants Pass meet concluded a busy week for the Pirates, who hosted a six-team meet at South Medford High School on April 25. The PHS track complex is set for replacement and not available for a meet this season.

At the meet, Marshall won the 800, Grace the javelin and the 4x100 team of Cameron Cory, Adoniram Gamez, Joe Navas and Cori Romig set the pace. Cory added a second in the 100, Robby Vos was second in the 800, Navas third in the long jump and Elijah Leonis third in the 110 hurdles.

For the girls, Lupita Allegria was second in the 400, Lily Fjeldheim second in the 100 hurdles and Jasper Cortell second in the 300 hurdles. Anna Nash was third in the 100, Brittany Livingston third in the 100 hurdles and Maggie Carrillo third in the 300 hurdles.
