The Phoenix football team caught Mazama's ire on Friday night.
After losing one game due to air quality and another on the road at Del Norte (Crescent City, CA) this season, the host Vikings were taking no prisoners when the Pirates traveled to Klamath Falls. A 61-13 victory in the Skyline Conference opener for both teams got Mazama's point across.
After giving up two early touchdowns, Phoenix struck back when Zach Dungey connnected with Jacky Hawkins for an eight-yard scoring pass early in the second quarter. From that point on, it was all Mazama as the Vikings ran off 47 straight points. A one-yard scoring run by Micheal Walker completed the scoring in the fourth quarter for Phoenix.
The Pirates (0-4 on the season) were limited to 154 yards of total offense while surrendering 571 rushing yards to Mazama. Phoenix returns to action Friday, hosting Klamath Union.
