For three quarters, the Phoenix boys' basketball team ran with the leaders of the pack.
The fourth quarter was a different story.
Trailing 38-31 with a quarter to play, the Pirates were overwhelmed by most Mazama, which scored a 63-36 win in Klamath Falls on Friday night.
Javan Gail scored 11 points and Ethan Hutsell seven for the Pirates, who are 1-3 in the Skyline Conference and 4-13 overall. The Pirates return to action on Friday, visiting Klamath Union.
