After playing to near draw for the first two quarters, the Phoenix boys' basketball team was able to sustain the pace in a 47-31 loss at Klamath Union on Friday night.
The Pirates trailed just 17-14 at halftime before the host Pelicans outscored them 30-17 over the final two stanzas. Javan Gail scored eight points and Ethan Hutsell seven for PHS (1-4 in the Skyline Conference, 4-14 overall), which returns to action Thursday night when it hosts Hidden Valley.
