The Phoenix boys' basketball team had its foot on the gas peddle from start to finish on Friday night.
After losing to Klamath Union the first two times the teams met this season, the Pirates never trailed in a convincing 62-38 win in Klamath Falls on Friday night. Eleven three-point baskets and energized play on both ends of the court fueled the win, which improved PHS to 13-9 overall and 6-3 in the Skyline Conference.
Ethan Hutsell scored 16 points, Braeden Watts 15 and Logan Jenkins eight for Phoenix on a night when nine players scored and 11 Pirates contributed to the win.
Ranked 16th in the state, the Pirates closed the regular season on Tuesday when they host Hidden Valley before learning their opponent for this weekend's Class 4A play-in round.
