A trio of 13-point scorers led the Phoenix girls' basketball team to a big Skyline Conference win on Tuesday night.

Makynna Nolan, Annabell Delgado and Morgan James all scored 13 points to power the visting Pirates past North Valley 49-37. The win improved Phoenix to 2-6 in the Skyline Conference and keep PHS in the hunt for a 4A play-in game later this month. The Pirates are 8-13 overall.

Nolan jump-started the Phoenix attack by scoring all 13 of her points in the first quarter, helping the team take a 10-0 lead. James and Delgado took over from there as the Pirates improved to 23rd in state rankings.

Ruby Rector and Kyla Potratz helped fuel the defensive effort, which produced 20 steals in the game while freshman Ahlam Mohamud provided a spark off the bench in 10 minutes of play. James finished with six steals, six rebounds and four blocks while Delgado totalled six steals.

The Pirates return to action Friday when they visit Hidden Valley.
