A third-quarter drought proved the difference in a 55-43 loss for the Phoenix boys' basketball team at Henley on February 3.
Trailing 23-22 at halftime, Phoenix was outscored 14-6 in the third quarter and was never able to catch the Hornets in a Skyline Conference contest in Klamath Falls.
The Pirates (1-3 in the Skyline, 8-10 overall and ranked 25th in the state) got going again offensively in the final quarter, scoring 15 points, but were unable to close on Henley, which improved to 4-0 in the Skyline at the halfway point of the conference season.
Dylan Harper scored 22 points and Julius Bolstad 12 to lead Phoenix, which returns to Klamath Falls on Tuesday night to face Mazama.
