The winning streak reached seven games as the Phoenix boys' basketball team opened Skyline Conference play with a gritty 57-48 win at Mazama on January 16.
The Pirates improved to 11-3 in the process and are ranked eighth at the 4A level heading into their home conference opener on January 19 against Klamath Union.
Robin Trenbeath scored 20 points, Amaru Williams 11 and Diego Hernandez nine as Phoenix outscored the host Vikings 16-11 in the final quarter to secure the win.
