Pirates drop thriller at Henley, settle for second in Skyline

The Phoenix boys continued a memorable basketball season, narrowly missing out on a share of the Skyline Conference basketball championship in the process.
The Pirates dropped a 53-51 decision at Henley on Feb. 20, completing the conference season in the process. Henley won the conference with a 7-1 mark while PHS finished 5-3 in Skyline play.
Despite the loss, Phoenix's season continues as the Pirates (16-6 overall) will visit Marist in an 4A OSAA State Playoff Game on March 1 in Eugene.
Phoenix battled throughout the conference finale in Klamath Falls, rallying in the fourth quarter after leading 29-26 at halftime. The Pirates knocked down 10 three-point baskets in the game, including six by senior guard Robin Trenbeath who finished with a team-high 22 points.
Brayden Decker added 13 points and Dylan Harber 11 for Phoenix.
