Pirates grab share of Skyline lead

The Phoenix boys' soccer team got rolling Monday afternoon.
After giving up an early goal, the Pirates responded with four unanswered goals in a 4-1 Skyline Conference win at North Valley.
The victory moved PHS into a tie for the conference lead with Hidden Valley. Both teams are 5-2 in the Skyline. Phoenix is 5-2-2 overall.
Randy Rodriguez opened the Pirates' scoring, finding the net off an assist from Joe Navas late in the first half. Sergio Urena and Kassem Akil both scored off assists from Bryson Flenner before Alex Salcido converted a deflection in front of the goal into a score to wrap up the win.
The Pirates outshot North Valley 13-7 in avenging an early home loss to the Knights. PHS returns to action Thursday, visiting Henley.
