The Phoenix boys' soccer team is very stingy. And there's not a problem with that!

Ranked first in the state in the OSAA's computer, the Pirates continued their winning ways by shutting out Klamath Union 5-0 on Monday afternoon at Colver Field in Talent.

Bryson Flenner and Victor Martinez both scored a pair of goals while Elijah Leonis also tallied in the win for the Pirates, who are 8-0-1 overall and 5-0-1 in the Skyline Conference. Joe Navas, Cornelio Carrera-Flores and Johnny Esquivel anchored the defensive effort, which has seen the Pirates allow just three goals on the season. Moises Rivera posted the shutout in goal for Phoenix, which returns to action Thursday when it visits Hidden Valley.
