The Phoenix boys' soccer team opened defense of its Skyline Conference title with a 5-0 win over Klamath Union on Thursday afternoon.
The Pirates scored all five of their goals in the first half. Randy Rodriguez and Dan Martinez both scored on penalty kicks. Jonathon Leal scored twice while Ty Clayton added the other goal on a Victor Martinez assist. Tucker Speaks posted a clean sheet in goal.
Phoenix (3-1-1 overall) visits Hidden Valley in a key Skyline match on Monday.
