Pirates claim another Skyline title

For a fourth straight year, the Phoenix soccer team is the best in the Skyline Conference.

The Pirates wrapped up the title with a 1-0 win at North Valley on Tuesday night. That, combined with a loss by Hidden Valley at Mazama, guaranteed the championshp to Phoenix.

Caden Gallegos scored the lone Pirate goal, finding the net in the 18th minute off a pass from Victor Martinez. Phoenix improved to 7-0-1 in the conference and 9-1-2 overall. The win also vaulted the Pirates to first in the state's computer rankings.

PHS returns to action Thursday, when it will visit Henley. Kickoff is set for 6:30 pm.
