Lady Pirates race to win on the road

Energy, enthusiasm and a fast start lifted the Phoenix girls' basketball team to its first win of the season on Friday night.
The Pirates led 6-0 less than two minutes into the game and never looked back in a 58-47 win at Sweet Home. PHS followed up with a solid first half on Saturday, before falling at Elmira 46-33.
Delani Parent scored 10 of her points in the first quarter as Phoenix built a big lead throughout the game. Sweet Home closed the game with a flurry to cut the final score to 11 points.
Saturday, the Pirates had to dig out of a hole as they trailed 16-3 after one quarter at Elmira. PHS came all the way back, and led 20-18 at halftime. The host Falcons pulled away over the final two quarters.
Taylor DeVry had a big game, recording a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Bella Lopez added 12 points and nine rebounds for the Pirates, who host North Bend on Tuesday night.
