Eventually the threes starting falling for Eagle Point, which spelled trouble for the Phoenix girls' basketball team on Tuesday night.

The visiting Eagles connected on eight three-point baskets in a 38-33 win at Phoenix. EP made only seven two-point shots on the evening.

Many of the those three-pointers came off of misses as the Eagles chased down 22 offensive rebounds in the contest. Eagle Point led 18-17 at halftime before going on a 13-8 run in the third quarter. Phoenix battled back during the final quarter but was unable to overcome the deficit in suffering its first loss of the season.

Despite falling short in the final score, the Pirates (2-1) were an impressive 15-20 at the free throw line. Maggie Carrillo led the team in scoring with 12 points while Delani Parent added nine. Josie Bolstad grabbed 14 rebounds for Phoenix.

PHS returns to action Saturday morning when they will host Tillamook in the first round of the Phoenix Pirate Shootout.
