It took less than a month of the season for the Phoenix girls' basketball team to match their win total from a year ago.
The Pirates picked up their fourth win of the 2018-2019 campaign on Friday, rolling past host Elmira 51-20.
Josie Bolstad, Delani Parent and Maggie Carrillo combined for 35 of the team's points in the victory. PHS trailed in the early going before opening a 23-13 lead at halftime. A 14-4 scoring run in the third quarter put the game away.
Bolstad added 13 rebounds, Parent seven and Carrillo six steals. McKenzie Christensen chipped in eight points in the win.
Phoenix was also in action Saturday, dropping a 48-26 decision to North Bend at Elmira. The Bulldogs broke open a close game at halftime with a 30-point second half. Parent had 10 points and eight rebounds while Fatima Flores added seven ponits.
PHS is 4-5 on the season heading into a three-day tournament at Cascade Christian beginning Thursday.
