A chance to win a Skyline Conference game on the road was there for the taking Friday night for the Phoenix girls' basketball team.

The Pirates did everything in their collective power to win but were ultimately undone by the Klamath Union rally in a 49-47 loss to the Pelicans in Klamath Falls.

Phoenix had an eight-point lead late in regulation before KU tied the contest and forced the extra period, where it hit a three-point shot in the closing seconds to finish its rally for the victory. PHS is 6-12 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

The Pirates led throughout the game as sophomore posts Delaney Parent and Josie Bolsted led the way. Parent finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds while Bolsted led all scorers with 18 points while grabbing five rebounds and making four steals. Maggie Carrillo added eight points for Phoenix.

The Pirates return to action Friday, hosting Hidden Valley.
