After a 3-0 start to the season, the Phoenix girls basketball team met its match on Saturday night at Southern Oregon University as the Pirates dropped a 57-35 decision to Ashland at the Raider Showcase.
Phoenix got off to a slow start and never recovered after scoring only 11 points in the first half.
Delani Parent turned in her best night of the young season, scoring 17 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Josie Bolstad added seven points.
A night earlier, the junior forwards had a huge night as Bolstad scored 32 points and grabbed 17 rebounds while Parent grabbed 13 rebounds. Lola Lumbreras added 16 ponts and six asissts while Cristal Tellez scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
The Pirates return to action this weekend at the Elmira Tournament.
