Phoenix won for the fifth straight time and opened the Skyline Conference on a positive note with a 39-32 victory at North Valley on Tuesday night.
The Pirates got off to a quick start, opening an 11-2 lead before holding off several North Valley rallies. Phoenix improved to 8-5 in the process as it heads to Henley on Friday night.
Freshman Lola Lumbreras scored 16 points, grabbed seven rebounds, handed our four assists and made five steals in her strongest game of the season. Josie Bolstad added 13 points and eight rebounds. Kassandra Skaff chipped in five points while Cristal Tellez added nine rebounds.
