The Phoenix girls' basketball team dropped its first game of the calendar year on Friday night, falling 58-38 in a Skyline Conference game at Henley.
The Pirates struggled versus pressure and fell behind 27-7 in the first half. Phoenix (8-6 overall and 1-1 in the conference) cut into the lead on several occasions but never made a serious run at the host Hornets.
Josie Bolstad scored 16 points and grabbed five rebounds. Kassandra Skaff added 11 points while Delani Parent finished with five points, 10 rebounds, four steals, two blocks and two assists.
Phoenix returns to action Friday, hosting Mazama.
